Saragossa community involvement
Saturday, 2 March, saw the first of what we at Saragossa hope will be many snare busting days!
Saragossa is setting up educational events and with the support of Mpumalanga Leopard Conservation is hoping to decrease snares found in our reserve, while affording youngsters from the area the chance to learn more about conservation of natural habitats.
Our first snare busting day was made possible by Jens Demmler, owner of Saragossa as well as Ford Barberton.
The excited group got together early Saturday morning and after a short introduction made their way along the Elands river and one of Saragossa’s boundary fences where they learnt more about tracks and signs and removed whatever could possibly be harmful to our wildlife.
A big thank you to Brian Vermaak of the Mpumalanga Leopard Conservation as well as Penryn School, Nelspruit, for making the snare buster day a success.
